About Us

Your home away from home.

Serenity is a property set on the banks of the Vaal River near Orkney. This is a place where you will be welcomed as part of the family. You can relax in the peaceful and serene atmosphere of nature, right on the riverfront. Serenity offers comfortable accommodation and extremely safe fishing.

Personal Touch

Serenity Place of Restoration was started by Wally and Dominique Thöle, with only three units. Over the years, they built up the business into what it is today. Wally has personally built and worked on all of the units, giving them all a very personal touch.

As a family business we strive to accommodate your needs to the best of our ability. Special occasions and celebrations for small groups can be arranged upon request. Please note that we do NOT cater for weddings at this stage. Whether you need a short holiday, a weekend away for some safe fishing or if you’re traveling for business, we have the ideal place for you.

We make it our business to make your stay with us as comfortable and pleasant as possible.

General Information:

  1. Serenity offers 6 self-catering units: two 2-sleepers, three 4-sleepers and one 6-sleeper.
  2. We require a minimum stay on weekends of two nights.
  3. Check in time is from 2pm and check out is at 10am (if there are no guests arriving on a Sunday then you may check out until 2pm – please check with management).
  4. Peak season rates apply over Easter weekend and from the 14th of December to the 14th of January.
  5. We offer ample parking and a separate entrance for trucks.
  6. We do not offer catering as our units are self-catering however, we do offer breakfast and lunch packs on-the-go for business guests upon prior arrangement.
  7. We are pet friendly as long as you clean up after your pet and they do not disturb our other guests.
  8. We allow two fishing rods per person fishing.
  9. Each unit has its own fishing deck allocated to it; however the Barn Owl and Grey Heron share a large fishing area.
  10. Serenity offers a small shop on the premises with ice, wood, charcoal and firelighters.
  11. The nearest Spar is 16 kms and a garage shop 7kms from Serenity.
